Question

Read the passage below which is taken from an article in The New York Times , and then answer the question based on it.

In New York City people walking in Central Park stopped to join a growing crowd. Four boys wearing blue jeans raked the ground in a small plot as if they were tending a garden in the country. One of them, 11-year-old Paul, explained how they got started. "I always used to have plants in my room, but there isn't too much room. Last spring we started helping Mr. Martini who worked for the Parks Department. He took care of this garden in his spare time, but retired last year. My friend Ben and I also went to the Flower Show here in the City. We bought these tools and that yellow watering can. We sent away for our seeds.

"Do you work for the city?" asked a man.

"No, we're just working for fun," Ben said.

Someone else asked what the boys were growing.

"Carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and daffodil bulbs," Paul called out as he pointed to each row.
